Sometimes you have manipulate colonies when conditions are not right.
For various reasons I had not been able to inspect my colonies for 10 days and I suspected several had started swarming preparations so in cool, showery and cloudy weather I carried out my inspections to find several with sealed queen cells but with the queen still present. I assume the queens were still present due to the poor weather over the weekend.
So you could imagine the colonies were not best pleased with my manipulations as can be seen by the attempted stings on my veil.
